Plain language first; the legal bits follow.

What you're buying. Salvaged, recovered and previously owned objects, sold as described in each listing. These are old things. They have wear, and we describe the wear we can see. Dates, makers and provenance are given to the best of our knowledge and are stated as estimates ("probably late '50s") where we aren't certain. Nothing we sell is represented as new, and unless the listing specifically says a piece has been third-party authenticated, it hasn't.

Not for use as intended. Diving helmets, medical and scientific instruments, navigation gear, scales, sporting equipment and similar pieces are sold as decorative and collectible objects only. Don't dive in the helmet. Don't navigate by the sextant. Don't weigh anything that matters on the scale.

Pricing and availability. Nearly every item is one of one. An item is yours when your payment clears, not when it's in your cart. If two people check out the same piece in the same minute, the first payment wins and the second is refunded immediately with our apology. We can correct pricing errors before shipment; if we do, you can cancel for a full refund.

Returns. See the refund policy. In short: full refund if we described it wrong or it arrived damaged; otherwise final sale.

Restricted items. We do not sell firearms, ammunition, ivory, tortoiseshell, or taxidermy or specimens of protected or migratory species, and we do not knowingly list anything we can't lawfully sell. If you believe a listed item is restricted where you live, it's your responsibility to tell us before ordering.

Live shows and other channels. Purchases made on Whatnot, eBay or in person are governed by that platform's terms and our policies as stated there.

Content. The photographs, descriptions, stories and characters on this site belong to The Smuggler's Ghost. You're welcome to share a listing. You're not welcome to reuse our photos or copy to sell something else.

The legal bits. This site is operated by The Smuggler's Ghost, St. Augustine, Florida. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. We may update them; the version posted at the time of your order applies to that order. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands. Our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here limits rights you have under law that can't be waived.
