The questions we get most, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, write to us. We answer email faster than we answer the phone.

Where does this stuff come from?

Estates, auctions, boatyard cleanouts, dockside sales and the occasional back room, mostly along the Florida coast between the Treasure Coast and St. Augustine. Every listing tells you where the piece came from, even if only by town. When we don't know more than that, we say so.

Is everything one-of-one?

Nearly everything. We don't stock, we find. When a piece sells, it's gone, and we probably won't see another. We say that once in the listing and price accordingly. You won't get countdown timers or "only 2 left" from us.

How do you describe condition?

Specifically and without flattery. Salt corrosion is called salt corrosion. A chip is a chip. If we repaired something, we show you where. If we cleaned and serviced it, we say cleaned and serviced. If we left it as found, we say that too. The photos are of the actual piece you'll receive — look at them closely, and ask if you want more angles.

How do you date and identify pieces?

Maker's marks, construction, hardware, and three generations of handling this kind of thing. When we're sure, we tell you the year. When we're not, you'll read "probably late '50s" or "maker unmarked." We'd rather be honest than precise.

What about signed memorabilia?

If a piece has been authenticated by a third party, the listing names the authenticator and the certificate comes with it. If it hasn't, the listing says unauthenticated and is priced that way. We don't guess in either direction.

How do you ship the heavy stuff?

Small pieces go USPS Ground Advantage or UPS, packed by hand in St. Augustine and insured. Anchors, propellers, large signs and anything else that takes two people to move ship by freight or are picked up in person — the listing will say which, and we'll quote freight before you commit. Brass and glass get double-boxed. See the shipping policy for the details.

Can I pick up in St. Augustine?

Yes, by appointment. Choose local pickup at checkout and we'll email you to set a time.

What if it arrives and it isn't what you described?

Then we made a mistake, and we'll make it right — write to us within 14 days of delivery and we'll take it back and refund you in full, shipping included. Because nearly everything here is one-of-one, we don't otherwise take returns for a change of heart. Read the listing, look at the photos, and ask questions before you buy. The full policy is here.

Do you buy, or take consignments?

Sometimes. If you have sporting heritage, maritime hardware or something strange with a story attached, send photos and where it came from through the contact page. We're most interested in pieces off the Florida coast, but we'll look at anything worth the look.

Is there anything you won't sell?

Firearms and ammunition. Ivory, tortoiseshell, and any taxidermy or specimen from a protected or migratory species. Anything we can't lawfully sell or that we can't stand behind. If you're unsure about a piece you own, ask before you send photos.

How often does new inventory go up?

New pieces go in the yard most weeks. Email subscribers see them first — usually a day before the site. One email a week, on Fridays. Sometimes two if we land a big haul. Never more.
